Apple is expected to unveil is long-awaited iWatch alongside
the iPhone 6 model on Tuesday, September 9. The technology giant has long been
rumoured to be preparing a wearable computer with a flexible screen and a strap
that snaps around the wrist – and could finally reveal details of its design at
next week’s launch event for the latest iPhone.
But those looking to get their
hands on the device could be left wanting amid claims it will not go on sale
until next year as it is not yet in mass production.
It is expected to feature wireless links and storage
capacity, with the ability to link to iPhones and display maps and other
information. The device may also include the Apple’s HomeKit function, meaning
users could be able to control lights and open and close garage doors at the
touch of a screen in their house. Tuesday’s unveiling will coincide with the
launch of the latest iPhone model, which is expect to feature a larger screen
and more rounded edges than current models.
