The Motorola-made Nexus 6 looks similar to the company's Moto X,
although there are quite a few upgrades. The newest Nexus is equipped with a
6-inch 1,440 by 2,560 Quad HD display, a 13-megapixel camera with optical image
stabilization, a large 3,220 mAh battery with quick charging capabilities, and,
probably most importantly, Android
5.0 Lollipop—formerly referred to as just Android L. The phone also sports
a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 chip and Adreno 420 graphics.
For comparison, the Moto X includes a 5.2-inch 1080p
display, a 13-megapixel shooter, a 2,300 mAh battery, and a 2.5GHz quad-core
Snapdragon 801 chip. Last year's Nexus 5 by LGcame
with 4.95-inch screen, an 8-megapixel camera, and a 2,300 mAh battery.
Google and Motorola's Nexus 6 will be available for
pre-order through the Google Play store later this month starting at $649 USD.
The phone will be available in 32GB and 64GB varieties, and will be offered
with a Midnight Blue or Cloud White finish. Motorola and wireless
carriers—including AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular—will
begin selling the phone in November.
